WE’VE WALKED PAST these critters before, but this time the crocodile scared the dog. So I thought it was time to “warn” people about them. The concrete croc ($850) and tortoise ($465) are at Wisconsin and Reservoir, around the corner from the front door of A Mano, the wonderful gift and tabletop store that sells them (and other outdoor things, such as urns and such). They’re priced a bit stiff for a hostess gift, but maybe your own Back Forty needs a ‘gator (yes, i know there’s a difference, but . . . ). For his part, Jeremiah got back at the big bad croc by doing a more than fair impersonation. Good boy!
